Report from NAPPS BAYELSA STATE ON COVID19 Pandemic.                   

The State Executive Council of NAPPS set up a five-man committee tagged...NAPPS COVID19  INTERVENTION INITIATIVE COMMITTEE on the 13th of April 2020. And was saddled with the following responsibilities:

(1.)  Sensitization of all HEADS OF UNIT AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT COORDINATORS on the programs of the committee and members role in achieving the set objectives.

(2) The Association in the state also embark on awareness creation on the Safety and Preventative Measures to Combat the dreaded COVID19 Pandemic, and this was carried out via Massive Social Media Campaign, Television, and Radio jingles fully Sponsored by NAPPS BAYELSA STATE

(3 )  To contribute and ensure the provision of palliatives for 200  households in an internally displaced camp in the State Capital. This was done in solidarity with the Bayelsa State government, cooperate organizations and well-meaning citizens to ease the suffering of the indigenes as our own cooperate social responsibility. This first phase was carried out successfully by the State executives, COVID19 Committee, and Members of the Association on the 11th of May 2020. The exercise was made possible by members via support in cash and kind.

(4. ) The third phase of the Committee's assignment; was to interface with the Government for possible Support to the Private Educational Sector in terms of Grant and Soft loan and audience. In this regard, the Committee sent a letter endorsed by the State Chairman to the office of the Governor. We had an audience with representatives of the Governor were several issues affecting our schools were raised and discussed. We were briefed on the next point of action which has already been set in motion. We await a favorable conclusion from the Government in no distance time.

(5)The Fourth Phase of the committee's assignment is to ensure that the conventions and protocols by the WHO, NCDC, and Federal Ministry of Education as announced by the Minister of State for Education (Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba) is wholly adopted for all private school operators in Bayelsa State. In line with this directive, the committee in collaboration with the State Executive Council is partnering with the following governmental agencies such as the State Taskforce Committee on Covid19, Ministry of Education, Health and Environment, to organize a One Day Orientation/Certification Training  Course for all proprietors in the State. items such as the mechanically improvised pedal handwashing machines of which a sample is being showcased in our NAPPS BYS State House for mass production for all, is ongoing. Also we have the Electronic 

Temperature Thermometer, Face Shield have been negotiated with suppliers to be supplied in the coming days which are all  Pre- resumption prerequisites. All other Federal Government requirements are hereby fully and unequivocally adopted by the committee for implementation.

The NAPPS BYS state COVID 19 Committee remains a standing committee to ensure and enforce strict compliance of all the measures hereby undertaken. The Committee also will continually interface and be updated with all relevant stakeholders in ensuring that time to time Government and NAPPS directives are fully domesticated.
