COVID 19 SITUATION REPORT IN GOMBE.

My sincere apology for responding lately. This is because I have been preparing for another virtual meeting between all education stakeholders; Hon Commissioner of Educ., Higher Educ., SUBEB, BESDA, NAPPS Chairmen, and Directors of Scholarship, Library Board, etc from Gombe and the DG, members of course 42 and other researchers from National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Jos. The meeting ended at 5 pm yesterday.

Another apology for not been opportune to attend any of our meetings in person. However, we have a representative who had been part and parcel of all the decisions taken.

As usual with almost all other states, we have been set off balance by the prompt closure of the schools earlier in March.

And in a bit to show solidarity with the government and earn more recognition, NAPPS Chairman and some prominent members move round to enforce the directive. The Media and the NSCDC Officials were part of the team.

Been the majority of schools were constrained as they have not collected the school fees the term makes it difficult to fulfill their obligations; the majority of whom have not paid the teacher's salaries for the past three months. While some proprietors were mute to their teachers, others negotiated a leave of absence and very few of the proprietors remembered to give palliatives to their teachers. (Very commendable).

Schools remained closed and nothing was going on in them. The MOE has implored all schools to embrace online learning although many of our schools attempted but failed due cost and technical incapability or knowhow.

At present, NAPPS has been on its toe providing situational reports and all relevant information from all stakeholders necessary for our schools.

Consequent upon these, all our schools have complied with all the instructions on COVID 19 and are ready for resumption any day soonest.

Thanks.

Tanko Adam
