NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PROPRIETORS OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS (NAPPS- LAGOS STATE)

COVID-19  LOCKDOWN SITUATION REPORT

Sequel to the Lockdown directives of March, 2020 at both the State and Federal Level all NAPPS members complied.

A few days later, six schools were Sealed off and a letter was written on this to our Hon. Commissioner for Education and the schools were re-opened without payment of a fine.

Efforts were equally made to ensure that palliative measures were extended to Private Schools in the State. We succeeded in getting some member schools fumigated Free of charge by the Government.

In April, when we discovered that members were seriously in need of money, a soft Loan of N800,000 was released for Chapter Chairpersons for disbursement.

The State Exco approached  NIRSAL Microfinance Bank to access Federal Government Loans, some members have benefited from the Loan Scheme.

Arrangement is ongoing with three other Commercial banks for Loans at reasonable Interest rates that members can easily afford.

Frequent free Online Seminars were Organised for members on COVID-19, on Awareness, how to produce Sanitizer,  how to cope with present challenges, and Preparation for  Schools' Resumption.

Free Online Lessons were Organised for students in Senior Secondary Schools every day for students in Private schools that are unable to organize such.

This year Children's Day Celebration was marked with various Activities while cash gifts we're given to outstanding pupils and students.

In preparation for Resumption, different items were made available for purchase for members at reduced prices. E.g Wash Hand station machines, Sanitizer, Face Masks, Face Shields,   Awareness  Banners, Infrared Thermometers, etc.

We also joined other stakeholders in preparing  Guidelines for schools resumption in Lagos state which has been discussed with Lagos State Ministry of Education.

In conclusion, NAPPS  members in Lagos State appreciate the efforts of our able National President and d Exco members in working towards school resumption and for other laudable programs organized to move the Association forward.

God bless you all.
