KADUNA STATE CHAPTER REPORT

The COVID Situation in Kaduna has been taken very seriously by the State government.

Schools were ordered to close since 23rd March 2020.

The sudden closure of the Schools before the end of the month made it impossible for many schools to collect school fees for the term thereby making many Schools to be unable to pay their teachers' salaries.

Along the line, schools were encouraged to conduct e-learning but are ordered not to demand payments from the students.

The Association protested and Government has promised to look into our demand.

On Wednesday the 10th of June, a school in Kaduna metropolis decided to conduct an entrance examination without regard to the government directives and in contravention of the States quarantine laws.

The Government swiftly revoked the school license and are preparing to prosecute the proprietor.

We have intervened and are working to get soft landing for the proprietor.

We have sensitized our members on what they need to put in place as is required by the COVID-19 PROTOCOL.

We are also to hold a virtual meeting today to discuss how our members can cope with the situation and create alternative income during the school lockdown.

We are also engaged in media campaigns to enlighten the public on the contributions of the Private Schools to the government and the public.

We are trusting God to see us through this pandemic.

Thank you for the opportunity
